Meet Mary: A Speech-Language Pathologist Who Champions Neurodiverse Learners
Mary is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in Connecticut and New York, with a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from New York Medical College (2017) and a TSSLD certification. Beyond the credentials, Mary is passionate about something bigger: helping neurodivergent kids understand their own brains, build on their strengths, and develop strategies to thrive.
Her expertise lies in language-based learning differences—especially auditory processing challenges, reading and writing difficulties, executive functioning struggles, and social communication needs. Mary knows that traditional approaches don’t always work for kids who think and learn differently. That’s why she takes a neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed approach, helping children develop self-awareness, self-advocacy, and confidence in their abilities.
She believes in meeting students where they are and teaching in a way that resonates with their unique learning styles. But for Mary, learning isn’t just about strategies and skills—it’s about joy. She knows that fun, laughter, and connection are just as critical as academic progress. Whether she’s celebrating a small win, cracking a silly joke, or creating an engaging learning experience, she strives to make every child feel valued, special, and proud of themselves.
Beyond working with kids, Mary is shaping the next generation of SLPs as an Adjunct Professor at Adelphi University. She teaches courses on trauma-informed care and neurodiversity-affirming practices, ensuring that future clinicians see the whole child—not just a diagnosis.
At the core of it all, Mary is a lifelong learner who is always evolving her practice to better serve the children she works with. Her goal? To empower kids with the tools, confidence, and joy they need to navigate the world.
